U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, today announced District: Donuts. Sliders. Brew (District D.S.B.) of New Orleans, La. as Small Business of the Week and submitted it into the official Congressional Record.

“This week, I am proud to recognize the District D.S.B. and Crossroads NOLA initiative: WeDon’tServeKids – a movement to aid children in foster care and families across the state,” said Vitter. “WeDon’tServeKids showcases Louisianians’ generosity, southern hospitality, love of food, and appreciation for tradition through the creation of their StreatCar food truck. Thank you for your continued commitment to serving New Orleans kids and families – effectively improving the lives of young folks in Louisiana for generations to come.”

Opened on Magazine Street in October 2013, District D.S.B offers a variety of donuts, coffee, and sliders. Recently, District D.S.B. partnered with Crossroads NOLA – a nonprofit that promotes the development of a city-wide foster care and adoption initiative. Through their joint campaign WeDon’tServeKids, the two have launched a StreatCar food truck – donating one hundred percent of their profits to serve children in foster care. For National Doughnut Day, District D.S.B. was ranked as the second best donut shop in America by FourSquare, a popular social media application that runs off of user reviews.

As Chairman of the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Vitter is continuing the tradition of honoring America’s small businesses. Vitter’s wife Wendy presented the recognition to District D.S.B on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the launch event for the StreatCar initiative.
