WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship will hold a field hearing on Monday July 25, 2011 entitled, “The Role of Small Businesses in Strengthening Cybersecurity Efforts in the United States.” The field hearing will focus on the role played by small businesses in strengthening cybersecurity efforts in the United States, including the role of small business contracting and best practices used by small businesses.

Support for cybersecurity is driving job growth in Maryland, a state at the center of our nation’s cybersecurity efforts. More than 50 key security and intelligence federal facilities and 12 major military installations are or will soon be located in the state, and combined, these facilities and installations will employ nearly 200,000 well-educated, highly-skilled workers in cutting-edge research and development, as well as important scientific, medical and technological innovations. In total, Maryland has one of the highest concentrations of technology jobs in the nation.
