U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (SBC), made the following statement in recognition of the sixth annual Louisiana Lemonade Day and will be submitting it into the official Congressional Record.

“Louisiana Lemonade Day has provided opportunity for more than 50,000 children across Louisiana to become entrepreneurs and learn simple, yet important lessons that will shape future generations of business leaders,” said Vitter. “On its sixth anniversary, I would like to recognize Louisiana’s Lemonade Day and the role it plays in fostering entrepreneurial spirits in the lives of our nation’s youths.”

On April 30, 2016, thousands of children across the Pelican State will start their own small business – a lemonade stand – as part of Louisiana Lemonade Day, which is a free, statewide program dedicated to teaching children how to start, own, and operate their own business. Lemonade Day will be recognized with events across Louisiana.

As SBC Chairman, Vitter continues the tradition of honoring America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs. This week, Vitter is honoring the thousands of lemonade stands in business due to Louisiana Lemonade Day as the honorary Small Businesses of the Week.
