(Metairie, La.) – Today, U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, sent a letter to Craig Fugate, Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), regarding the lack of operational Disaster Recovery Centers in the Louisiana parishes affected by the recent unprecedented flooding.

“In the twenty Louisiana parishes that are struggling to recover after this and last week’s unprecedented flooding, thousands of folks are in need of guidance to complete the assistance applications,” said Vitter. “These centers are crucial to the immediate response and long-term recovery for the affected Louisiana communities, and they should be open by now.”

In the last several days, several parishes in southeast Louisiana have been devastated by unprecedented flooding due to recent storms. Vitter has been working with his Congressional colleagues and local officials to ensure Louisianians have the resources and information they need to file claims, find reliable shelter, and begin the rebuilding process.
