Today, U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (SBC), announced Three Brothers Farm of Youngsville, La. as Small Business of the Week, and will be submitting it into the official Congressional Record.

“Louisianians are certainly quite resourceful in rebuilding and reinventing in the wake of a natural disaster,” said Vitter. “In the eleven years since Hurricane Rita devastated his family’s 72-year-old orchards, Bob Romero has reinvented his family’s business, expanding and adapting to foster a successful raw sugar outfit in south Louisiana. Congratulations to Bob Romero and Three Brothers Farm for being selected as Small Business of the Week. Thank you for your commitment to preserving the art of family farming, and I look forward to your continued growth and success.”

In 1997, Bob Romero took ownership of his generations-old family farm with the goal of producing all-natural preserves to sell at the Crescent City Farmers Market in New Orleans, La. When Hurricane Rita destroyed the family’s orchards, Romero began expanding the farm’s main product into raw sugar production. Today, Romero is directly involved in the day-to-day operations of the seventy-acre farm, including selling the sugar to several of New Orleans’s iconic restaurants.

As SBC Chairman, Vitter continues the tradition of honoring America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs.
