WASHINGTON – Today Senator Mary Landrieu, Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, announced that she will be co-hosting with Parish President Pat Brister the St. Tammany Small Business Summit on August 22, 2012. Small businesses will have the opportunity to attend small group information sessions with Senator Landrieu’s staff and other federal officials to learn about trade, contracting, training, and access to capital.

Officials from the Small Business Administration, Department of Commerce, St. Tammany Parish Government, Army Corps of Engineers, Northshore SCORE, Louisiana Small Business Development Center, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Louisiana Economic Development, and a variety of local banks will be in attendance to show their support for Louisiana’s locally owned and operated companies. Small businesses will have the opportunity to ask questions, pitch business ideas, and network during the Summit’s breakout sessions.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy and should be championed by both local and federal governments,” said Senator Landrieu. “I look forward to attending this event that will help small businesses thrive.”
