Today, U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (SBC), announced Healthe Habits for Living of Lafayette, La. as Small Business of the Week, and will be submitting it into the official Congressional Record.

“It’s certainly encouraging to see Louisiana small businesses tackling health issues in their communities head-on. Congratulations to Jill Hurley and Healthe Habits, and thank you for your commitment to helping Louisianians reach their healthy-living goals,” said Vitter.

In 2007 after a personal battle with medical issues, Jill Hurley opened Health? Habits for Living with the mission to help train, coach, and advise other adults in the appropriate skills for exercise, nutrition, and mental strategies to live a healthy lifestyle. To complement their life skills counseling in nutrition and long-term mental success strategies, Jill and her team of physical and occupational therapists also provide physical strength training to their patients, encouraging and enabling a balanced active lifestyle that parallels healthier life changes.

Named the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 2011 Women in Business Champion for Louisiana, Jill’s proven endeavor to assist others in reaching their healthy-living goals has expanded to three successful locations across south Louisiana.

Earlier this month, Vitter and SBC Ranking Member Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) passed a bipartisan resolution declaring October to be National Women’s Small Business Month. Click here to read more.

As Chairman of the Small Business Committee and in honor of National Women’s Small Business Month, Vitter continues the tradition of honoring America’s women-owned small businesses.
