U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, today announced Haspel of New Orleans, La. to be the Throwback Thursday ‎Small Business of the Week, and will submit it into the official Congressional Record.

“Louisianians are known for their ingenuity and rich traditions – traditions that are often celebrated across the country,” said Vitter. “For over one hundred years, Haspel of New Orleans has kept folks cool, dry, and fashionable in the summer’s heat and humidity thanks to their quality seersucker suits.”

In 1909, Joseph Haspel created the Seersucker brand after recognizing the need for lightweight clothing that could be worn throughout the summer months, and based the puckered cloth off of a similar design for workers in India. Haspel is now in its fourth generation as a family-owned business and continues to provide their lightweight, stylish, and 100% made-in-America clothing across the country.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Vitter is continuing the tradition of honoring America’s legacy of small businesses.
