U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, today announced Safe Haven Enterprises of Jennings, La. to be the ‎Small Business of the Week, and has submitted it into the official Congressional Record.

“Protecting our troops, families, and communities abroad and here at home is always a top priority,” said Vitter. “Safe Haven Enterprises offers peace of mind by securing lives and property, from U.S. embassies and government facilities to private homes in Louisiana, with blast-tested structures that keep Americans safe in times of disaster. Congratulations to Alta Baker for her ingenuity and determination that has raised the bar for safeguarding our homes and property over the years.”

In 1998, Alta Baker founded Safe Haven Enterprises (SHE) with the goal of providing disaster- and blast-resistant buildings and mobile units that would protect folks and their property. Today, SHE produces twenty-two different types of structures, ranging from office complexes to ballistic-resistant doors to first-response units for natural disasters. SHE is located in a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Historically Underutilized Business Zone (or HUBZone) and has aided the local economy through the creation of high-quality, technical jobs in Southwest Louisiana.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Vitter is continuing the tradition of honoring America’s small businesses.
