(Metairie, La.) - Today, U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business Entrepreneurship (SBC), announced Delta Contract Interiors of Homer, La. to be Small Business of the Week, and will be submitting it into the official Congressional Record.

“Our state has faced disastrous storms and flooding in recent weeks, but Louisiana families and communities have already banded together for the recovery effort,” said Vitter. “Over the last 40 years, John and Martha Peter have turned Delta Contract Interiors into a very successful small business that rivals larger corporations in their specialty trade both in Louisiana and across the country. Despite the aftereffects of the storms and flooding, the Peters family – with the help of the Homer community – is working non-stop to rebuild their small business, and I wish them a quick recovery and many more years of growth and success.”

In 1976, John and Martha Peters founded Delta Contract Interiors in their hometown of Homer in Northwest Louisiana with the goal of providing quality interior design services and unique gifts to clients in their community. In the years since, the company has earned a good reputation among large hotel brands, enabling Delta Interiors to grow and employ more and more local workers in their manufacturing factory.

In the aftermath of a strong upper-level storm system brought dangerous thunderstorms across Louisiana in recent weeks, the Peters’ small business was flooded. The Homer community came together to help the Peters recover all undamaged products and remove what had been destroyed by the rising water. With friends, family, and neighbors coming to their aid, the Peters have been inspired to pick up the pieces and rebuild their small business.

As SBC Chairman, Vitter continues the tradition of honoring America’s small business and entrepreneurs. For those affected by the recent flooding in Louisiana, click here for more information on federal resources.
