Today, U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (SBC), announced Maggio Grocery of Bossier City, La. as Small Business of the Week, and will be submitting it into the official Congressional Record.

“Louisianians are well known for their hospitality, generosity, hard work and Southern charm, and it’s no surprise that often times those qualities become the bedrock of solid businesses in communities around the state,” said Vitter. “This week I am very proud to recognize Maggio Grocery and the Maggio family of Bossier City for their commitment to serving the Bossier-Shreveport community with exceptional products and services, earning them a valued place in their community for more than 90 years. I look forward to their continued success.”

In 1923, Sam and Sharon Maggio opened Maggio Grocery along the Red River in Bossier City, La. An Italian immigrant and World War I veteran, Sam aimed to provide Bossier City residents with the highest quality groceries, meats, seafood, and service-with-a-smile one could find in the community. Today, the shop continues to be a family affair, with third-generation owner Vince Maggio overseeing daily operations of the 93-year-old general-type store, providing the same exceptional customer service, products, and old-time atmosphere the grocery has become so well known for.

As SBC Chairman, Vitter continues the tradition of honoring America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs.
