U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-ID), chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, has named technology startup Rohinni of Coeur d'Alene as the "Small Business of the Month" for July 2017. Rohinni will be recognized in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.
“Entrepreneurs like Cody Peterson, Andy Huska, and their employees at Rohinni embody the spirit of innovation and determination in delivering a product or service that makes a substantial difference in the lives of many Americans,” said Chairman Risch, who is also the co-founder and co-chair of the Congressional Semiconductor Caucus. “The work done by Rohinni and companies like them help to preserve our global competitive edge in the electronic, semiconductor, and memory industries. I am proud of all that Rohinni has already accomplished and contributed to our great state, and I can confidently say that the future is bright for this Coeur d'Alene-based technology startup.”
Described as “The World's Thinnest LED lighting,” the LED lighting products that Rohinni develops allow light to be printed in any shape, on any surface, and for any need. The company’s products have already been applied in many different fields, including transportation and consumer electronics. Co-founders Cody Peterson and Andy Huska first worked together creating advanced force-sensing capacitive membrane switches, touchpads, and touchscreens for the Pacinian Corporation, which Mr. Peterson founded. With their extensive experience and background in innovative technology products, they began with a new, clever concept: using a thin slice of conductive material, they were able to disperse thousands of micro-LED diodes to create glowing surfaces.
The Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship oversees proposed legislation on matters relating to entrepreneurship and provides oversight of the Small Business Administration. The committee also researches, investigates and reports all problems relating to America’s small businesses to the full Senate. As Chairman, Risch will honor America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs in the Senate each month.
