Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-ID), chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, has named Caxton Printers in Boise, Idaho as the Small Business of the Month for November 2018. Caxton Printers will be recognized in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.
“Caxton Printers has a rich history in our community, dating back to 1895,” said Chairman Risch. “As the state's official Textbook Depository, a publisher of nationally-acclaimed fiction and non-fiction, and printer for a range of custom needs, Caxton Printing has helped educate our youth and enrich the lives of so many Idahoans. In recognizing Caxton Printing’s hard work, we wish this family business another 100 years of success as they service our community.”
Founded over 100 years ago, Caxton Printers provides high-quality printing and publication services to the greater Boise community. The company’s roots can be traced back to 1895 when Albert E. Gipson moved his family from Colorado to Caldwell, Idaho to establish a publishing house. In 1927, the State of Idaho named Caxton the official Idaho State Textbook Depository, and to this day it continues to serve as a state distribution center for textbooks, technology, and education supplies for Idaho’s public schools. Caxton publishes books of both fiction and non-fiction and several of the authors published have gone on to become known nationally and internationally for their work. Caxton remains active in the publishing field today and continues to support the dreams of hopeful authors. As Caxton has grown and prospered it has remained a family-owned and-operated business throughout its history.
The Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship oversees proposed legislation on matters relating to entrepreneurship and provides oversight of the Small Business Administration. The committee also researches, investigates and reports all problems relating to America’s small businesses to the full Senate. As Chairman, Risch will honor America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs in the Senate each month.
