Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-ID), chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, has named SJX Jet Boats, Inc. in Orofino, Idaho as the Small Business of the Month for August 2018. SJX Jet Boats will be recognized in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.

“Known as the steelhead fishing capital of the world, Orofino, Idaho - and the entire state - is home to many sportsmen and women who have benefited from the unique concept of SJX Jet Boats,” said Chairman Risch. “Whether for a hunter, fisherman, an adventurist, or a first responder, SJX Jet Boats have honed their design through continuous research and development in order to provide the best possible product. I would like to congratulate Steve Stajkowski and all of the employees at SJX Jet Boats for being named the Small Business of the Month for August 2018, I look forward to watching your continued growth and success.”

After several years of working in the aluminum jet boat building field, SJX Jet Boats Owner Steve Stajkowski created a concept for a boat that could handle remote, shallow waters while maintaining a strong structural design and functionality. Inspired by the concept of combining high-speed performance with the off-roading aspects of boating, the SJX boat design began to take shape. He began work on the very first inboard tunnel hull in 1998. Less than ten years later, after years of experimenting with many different designs, Steve started SJX Jet Boats in 2007. The benefits of the SJX Jet Boats concept extend beyond the recreational user. SJX Jet Boats are customizable for policing, search and rescue, fire, and other first responder operations. During a search and rescue mission during a flood in the Philippines, approximately 1,200 individuals were rescued due to the jet boat’s capability to maneuver through large amounts of debris.

The Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship oversees proposed legislation on matters relating to entrepreneurship and provides oversight of the Small Business Administration. The committee also researches, investigates and reports all problems relating to America’s small businesses to the full Senate. As Chairman, Risch will honor America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs in the Senate each month.
