Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.
RED OAK, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: Shivvers Manufacturing of Wayne County. Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.
“Shivvers Manufacturing’s patented grain auger system revolutionized the grain drying process and has equipped farmers with the tools to feed and fuel our nation,” said Ranking Member Ernst. “The innovations by this family-owned and operated business, like their zero-turn radius lawnmowers, prove that they are truly a cut above the rest.”
Charles Shivvers founded Shivvers Manufacturing in 1968 to improve grain drying technology, beginning with his invention of the tapered auger system. This breakthrough inspired the first commercially successful Continuous Counter-Flow Grain Drying System. Within no time, the business grew from a home garage operation into a large-scale operation, prompting Charles to move the operation to Corydon, Iowa. Over the years, Shivvers expanded its product line to include innovations such as the Country Clipper ZTR and CompuDry systems. Today, Shivvers Manufacturing remains a family business and will celebrate its 56th anniversary next year.
Stay tuned as Ranking Member Ernst recognizes more Iowa small businesses across the state with her Small Business of the Week award.
