WASHINGTON – As Vice President Kamala Harris attempts to gain the approval of small businesses across the country, U.S. Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee Ranking Member Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) exposed this administration’s disastrous track record:
“For three and a half years, small businesses have been put through the wringer by inflation and the avalanche of regulations from the Biden-Harris administration,” said Ernst. “If Kamala Harris was serious about giving small businesses a tax break, she would have done it already. Instead, she voted to drown them in paperwork, send an army of IRS agents after them, and prioritize a radical climate agenda over small business owners. Kamala Harris’ speech today was devoid of any details and merely described programs that already exist at the Small Business Administration, while hinting at more money for mediocre government programs and new socialist lending practices.”
Background:
According to the Competitive Enterprise Institute, the Biden-Harris administration has imposed more than $600 billion worth of regulatory costs on America’s economy each year. This burden falls disproportionately on small businesses, who face unnecessary regulatory burdens amounting to $14,700 per employee annually.
Ranking Member Ernst questioned the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) new Green Lending Initiative, which dramatically changed lending programs in order to align with one of Vice President Harris’ key Green New Deal priorities at the expense of small businesses.
Ranking Member Ernst demanded SBA change course on irresponsible lending changes championed by Vice President Harris that would lead to predatory loans.
