PORTSMOUTH – U.S. Sen.John Sununu, R-NH, presented the Women's Business Center in Portsmouth with a $50,000 check from the U.S. Small Business Administration yesterday.

This year marks the 20-year anniversary of the centers devoted to helping women launch, expand or bolster businesses via counseling, training and education. And attending yesterday's event were more than two dozen women involved in everything from banking to the popcorn business.

Sununu said the $50,000 grant was made possible by legislation he and two Maine and Massachusetts senators from both sides of the aisle backed last year, extending WBC's eligibility to apply for the funds.
