In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which was signed into law on March 27, 2020. The CARES Act established the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and expanded the Emergency Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. The Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act and the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act of 2020 further expanded PPP. Given the $670 billion appropriated in small business relief, Chairman Rubio is committed to holding SBA accountable for its distribution of funding.
