Chairman Rubio is committed to fulfilling the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship's obligation to conduct oversight of the U.S. Small Business Administration. Under his leadership, SBC was the only Senate committee awarded an "A" grade on the Congressional Oversight Hearing Index from The Lugar Center. The following correspondence documents Chairman Rubio's oversight work since his tenure began in January 2019.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which was signed into law on March 27, 2020. The CARES Act established the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and expanded the Emergency Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. The Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act and the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act of 2020 further expanded PPP. Given the $670 billion appropriated in small business relief, Chairman Rubio is committed to holding SBA accountable for its distribution of funding.
