Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Ranking Member Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) today praised the Department of Commerce for unveiling its new Sustainable Business Clearinghouse, a critical web-based resource for manufacturing firms seeking assistance in obtaining financing, technical assistance, and advice in complying with government regulations.

“This one-stop clearinghouse of government programs and resources available to companies seeking to strengthen their commitment to sustainable manufacturing is a major step forward in the dual quest to make government more user-friendly and American manufacturing more competitive,” said Ranking Member Snowe.  “I applaud the Department of Commerce for its forward-thinking approach to assisting our nation’s manufacturers.”

The website, which can be found at http://trade.gov/competitiveness/sustainablemanufacturing/Resource_clearinghouse.asp, went live this morning.  It was compiled by staff at the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration (ITA).  According to ITA staff, the website now lists resources and programs on the Federal level; state-based programs will be added to the database in the near future.
