(Washington, DC) – Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), the lead Democrat on the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship, today issued the following statement after the Senate unanimously approved the nomination of Rear Admiral Althea H. Coetzee to be Deputy Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA):

“SBA programs support small businesses in New Hampshire and across the country, and we need individuals leading this important agency who are focused on helping small businesses start, grow and thrive.

“The broad support for SBA and its mission is reflected in the bipartisan vote our committee and the Senate gave to both Administrator Linda McMahon and now Deputy Administrator Coetzee.  I look forward to working with this new leadership team to improve SBA’s services and ensure the agency is a flexible and efficient resource for our job creating small businesses and entrepreneurs.”
