(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship and the Senate Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure, today made his latest “Made in Maryland” visit to SemaConnect, an electric vehicle charging station manufacturer based in Bowie, Maryland.
“I am proud that one of the leading companies at the forefront of our shift to clean transportation is right here in Maryland,” Cardin said. “The surface transportation reauthorization legislation currently making its way through Congress will invest billions of dollars in modernizing our nation’s infrastructure to support the transition from gas-powered vehicles to electric vehicles. We must also enact President Biden’s American Jobs Plan to make America the worldwide leader in electric vehicle technology, reduce carbon emissions, and create high-paying green collar jobs at companies like SemaConnect across America.”
“We were honored that Senator Cardin spent time viewing our operations. His strategic leadership in championing electric vehicles, sustainability, and job creation through clean energy initiatives boosts our economy and environment,” said Mahi Reddy, Founder & CEO of SemaConnect. “At SemaConnect, we are laser-focused on bringing new, powerful, and innovative electric vehicle charging stations to market for commercial, fleet, multifamily, and later this year at home charging applications. We firmly believe EV charging stations are critical to the mass adoption of electric vehicles.”

President Joe Biden’s American Jobs Plan proposes a once-in-a-generation investment in America’ crumbling infrastructure, including billions of dollars to increase adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), which will save consumers thousands of dollars and reduce carbon pollution.
The plan includes $15 billion to create a national network for 500,000 charging stations, which would represent a five-fold increase from the approximately 100,000 public charging points in America today. The plan would also create new tax credits and grants to spur private investment and innovation in the EV industry to make the United States the global leader in EV technology.
