U.S. Sen. David Vitter, Chairman of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, today announced Skyrunner of Shreveport, La. to be this week’s Small Business of the Week.

“American small businesses are cultivating some of the most exciting and new technologies that are responsible for fostering economic growth, increasing educational opportunities, and retaining highly skilled, technical jobs. Louisiana small business Skyrunner has reinvented recreational sports vehicles into an all-terrain buggy that also flies, which has the capacity to revolutionize the way we manage natural resources, protect federal lands, aid in natural disasters, and adventure into the wilderness. It reminds me of something out of a James Bond movie,” said Vitter. “It is our duty in Congress to help small businesses navigate the convoluted regulatory process in order to innovate and succeed. Their success is our success, and so I am honored to announce Skyrunner as this week’s Small Business of the Week.”

When moving its headquarters to Louisiana from the United Kingdom, Skyrunner struggled to get a unique military application approved import products due to bureaucratic red tape from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Vitter was able to advocate on Skyrunner’s behalf to move past the delay, which allowed the company to begin pre-production of their product in Shreveport, La. In August 2014, Vitter visited the facility to see the Skyrunner prototype in action.

As Chairman of the Small Business Committee, Vitter is continuing the tradition of honoring local small businesses each week. Skyrunner will be submitted into the official Congressional record.
