WASHINGTON – Today Senator John Kerry congratulated Hudson’s Janet Ceddia for being named the 2008 Prime Contractor of the Year for the New England region by the Small Business Administration. Janet Ceddia is president of Security Construction Services, Inc., which specializes in perimeter security, anti-terrorist fencing, and other barriers to intrusion. Under Janet’s leadership, Security Construction Services has received $15 million in government contracts and today serves municipalities, government agencies and military installations.

“It’s tough for small businesses to break into the federal contracting marketplace, but Janet has proven that small firms can do the job, and do it well,” said Senator Kerry. “Janet’s work is helping to keep our military and other government buildings safe while creating jobs right here in the Bay State. I applaud her efforts and success and will continue to work in Washington to help level the playing field for all small businesses that want to do business with the federal government.”

Ceddia is in Washington D.C. to receive her award during National Small Business Week. Ceddia participated in the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program which helps socially and economically disadvantaged businesses access and compete for federal government contracts. Security Construction Services is a certified women-owned, small disadvantaged business and has completed contracts for the Air Force, Army Reserve, Coast Guard, Department of Transportation, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
