LEWISTON, ME – United States Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Ranking Member Olympia J. Snowe today swore-in Maurice (Moe) Dubé as Maine’s District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).  In his new capacity as District Director, Moe will be responsible for the administration of the SBA business loan portfolio; the oversight of the Maine Small Business Development Center Network; the coordination of Maine’s SCORE chapters; and oversight of the Women’s Business Center at Coastal Enterprises, Inc.

“I am pleased to welcome Moe home to Maine to serve as District Director of the SBA,” said Senator Snowe.  “Having served the SBA with distinction for nearly twenty years, Moe is enormously well-suited to assist the 151,000 Maine small businesses that are the preeminent job-creators and engines of our economy.  Indeed, Maine will certainly benefit from the knowledge and experience that Moe gained during his tenure as the SBA’s Deputy District Director of Maine and the SBA’s District Director of Massachusetts.  Moe truly delivers an ideal ‘one-two punch’ for our small businesses, as he not only knows how to deliver SBA programs effectively, but also knows Maine.”

“Moe’s return is terrific news for the many small businesses in our state that depend on the SBA and the many valuable programs it administers throughout Maine,” said Senator Snowe.  “When Moe was with the Maine SBA, I had the pleasure of working hand-in-glove with him on a variety of issues on behalf of Maine’s small businesses.  I know firsthand that his comprehensive background, keen acumen, and tireless dedication will be outstanding assets for Maine’s robust small business community.”

Dubé, a Maine native and resident of Lewiston, served in the U.S. Army, military intelligence branch from 1968 to 1970, and retired from the US Coast Guard Reserves with the rank of Lieutenant in 1994.
