U.S. Sen. David Vitter, Chairman of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, today announced Darrell’s of Lake Charles, La. to be Small Business of the Week, and has submitted Darrell’s into the official Congressional record.
“Establishments like Darrell’s are vital members of their communities. In the last thirty years, Darrell’s has evolved from a simple sandwich shop and bar to becoming a destination spot for po-boy aficionados across Louisiana,” said Vitter. “I wish Darrell’s continued success, great food, and good times in the years to come.”
Darrell and Susie Derouen opened Darrell’s as a bar in 1985. The Derouens began cooking complimentary dinners for their customers during football season, which led Darrell’s to specialize in po-boys. Today, Darrell’s is renowned for its po-boys in the Lake Charles and surrounding southwest Louisiana region.
As Chairman of the Small Business Committee, Vitter is continuing the tradition of honoring local small businesses each week.
