The Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship today honored Red River Brewing Company from Louisiana as the Small Business of the Day for National Small Business Week. This business, which was nominated by U.S. Senator John Kennedy (R-LA), will be recognized in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.
“Small businesses are an integral part of the national economy as well as our local economy in Louisiana," said Senator Kennedy. "This week, I am proud to recognize one of the many outstanding Louisiana businesses for National Small Business Week: Red River Brewing Company. Red River has provided high quality products and service in the Shreveport area since its establishment in 2013, when it became the first brewery in Shreveport in more than a century.”
Red River Brewing Company was opened in 2013 in the heart of downtown Shreveport. It became the first brewery in the Shreveport area in more than a century. Like many small businesses, owners Robert McGuire, Beau Raines, and Jared Beville’s business started as a hobby. Their company’s origin began with them home brewing in their garage. After having success in producing high quality brews, they decided to turn their hobby into a business. Red River is a true community brewery that utilizes other local home brewers and business partners.
"Congratulations to Red River Brewing Company for receiving this recognition," said Senator Jim Risch, chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. "Our nation relies on its 28 million small business owners to keep our economy moving forward, and I'm glad we can highlight their individual and collective achievements this week."
For over 50 years, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. As part of National Small Business Week, the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from all 50 states and U.S. territories. As chairman, Risch honors America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs in the Senate regularly.
