U.S. Sens. David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (SBC), and SBC Ranking Member Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) announced that they have unanimously passed a bipartisan Senate Resolution designating the week of November 2 through November 6, 2015 as National Veterans Small Business Week.

“We are indebted to our veterans’ brave sacrifices and service, and that includes when they come back home and create jobs in their local communities,” said Vitter. “As we approach Veterans Day, I am honored to have unanimously passed this bipartisan Senate Resolution recognizing and honoring our brave servicemen and women in their service and commitment to our country, economy, and communities.”

“Many veterans are applying the same can-do approach they used in the military to start and grow their own small businesses,” said Shaheen. “These veteran entrepreneurs should be recognized, not only for their selfless service protecting our country, but for the many ways they are strengthening our economy. It’s appropriate that we set aside time as a nation to honor our veteran small business owners, and I’m glad the Senate has unanimously approved this resolution.”

As the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Small Business Committee, Vitter and Shaheen have tirelessly advocated for veteran small business owners, including passing the Veterans Small Business Ownership Act of 2015 (S.1866) and the Veterans Entrepreneurship Act (S.957) out of the committee.
