WASHINGTON – United States Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Chair, Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., today congratulated the Louisiana National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) for being awarded a grant from the Minority Business Development Agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Senator Landrieu made the following statement:

“The NMSDC has been extremely active in ensuring that minority-owned businesses receive an adequate share of small business procurement opportunities and have access to the necessary information to ensure their businesses succeed. The Minority Business Development Agencies grant will allow the organization to hire additional staff to conduct business with government and private agencies on projects available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Their hard work in assisting minority-owned businesses has makes them one of the country’s leading business membership organizations and one of the most deserving of this award.”

The one-time grant awarded to NMSDC totaled $134,286 is designed to maximize minority business participation in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act contract and grant opportunities.
