On Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 2:00pm EDT, the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee will hold a hearing entitled, “The Small Business Struggle Under Obamacare.”

In the years since enacting the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) – also known as “Obamacare,” small businesses have had to change the way they provide employer-sponsored health insurance coverage for their employees. Currently, 60 percent of small employers do not offer health insurance to their employees, and much of that is due to the high cost of providing health insurance that must be purchased on the small group market. During Wednesday’s hearing, Committee Members will examine various Obamacare provisions that most directly relate to small businesses, including the employer mandate, the “Cadillac Tax,” and a prohibition on health reimbursement arrangements.
