WASHINGTON – United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, today welcomed Dr Winslow Sargeant as the new Chief Counsel for Advocacy at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

“Dr. Sargeant comes to the SBA with a wealth of knowledge of small businesses and what they need to grow and thrive,” Senator Landrieu said. “Dr. Sargeant will be an effective voice for the more than 27 million small businesses in America. He understands the challenges that small businesses are facing, and joins the Agency with support from both Republicans and Democrats. While there have been attempts to block his nomination, there is no doubt that Dr. Sargeant will be a powerful asset to small businesses and I look forward to working with him as he takes on his new role.”

Dr. Sargeant is currently the Managing Director of Venture Investors, a Midwest venture capital company with a concentration on starting up healthcare and technology companies. Previously, he co-founded Aanetcom, a technology company now owned by PMC Sierra (a publicly-traded company) and served as a program manager for the Small Business Innovation Research program in electronics at the National Science Foundation.
